From Northampton Saints supporters' group - Saints Sinners

It is with great sadness to report the passing this morning of Saintsman #1453 John Surguy after a long illness aged 70.
John made his debut in 1977 and went onto make 72 appearances for the Saints.
A fly half who was a prolific points scorer, he would often boast that he scored more tries than made tackles.
John was part of the Saints Centenary Tour to the USA in 1979.
He enjoyed close connections with the club through Past Players golf days. He attended the Saints Benevolent Fund Inaugural Lunch at the RAC club in London earlier this year.
Originally from Peterborough RFC and then Bletchley. He came to the notice of the Saints having scored 39 points for Bletchley two weeks running. After his time at Franklins Gardens he played for Leighton Buzzard.
RIP Brother Saintsman 😞
